What Is The Indiana Family Caregiver Program?

Structured Family Caregiving Indiana

The Indiana Family Caregiver Program is funded by Medicaid and supported by a Medicaid waiver. It provides pay for caregivers who live with and assist a loved one. Services reduce the need for nursing homes, residential care, or assisted living by offering care at home.

This program aligns with the goals of the Older Americans Act, promoting community integration and accessibility.

Eligible recipients include:

  • Seniors with Medicare, Medicaid, or Supplemental Security Income (SSI)

  • Adults with disabilities, including mental health conditions

  • Veterans and those receiving a pension

Indiana Caregiver Requirements

To become an Indiana Medicaid paid caregiver, you must:

  • Live with the person needing care

  • Help with daily health and personal needs

  • Complete a background check

Eligible caregivers can include a:

  • Relative providing unpaid care
